Springtime Entryway

This homeowner still loved many of her entryway pieces, but just was tired of looking at them everyday. There is no better season than SPRING, to freshen things up!

I love setting my homeowners up for easy seasonal transitions with each design I complete. For this space all she has to do is replace the bouquet in the vase. Life Hack: Use a fuzzy pipe cleaner around your flowers & a cheap dollar store vase to keep your arrangement in place while they’re being stored from season to season. All you have to do is poke them back in the vase! I am all about working smarter, not harder!

(Yes I got too excited to snap a picture and hadn’t cut my tags off… again)

St. Joseph Chiropractic

St. Joseph Chiropractic reached out to me to help them with their new office. They were currently in one location, but recently had purchased another office and were almost completely gutting the new place. It was so fantastic to get to work with Kurt Evans, the contractor who Dr. Maddox had selected. Getting to choose some of the “bones” and structural design aspects really helped in the whole process!

D E T A I L S:

We wanted to give the office a spa like atmosphere. Incorporating more feminine, metallic, and natural greenery from plants. When clients come for treatments they should leave feeling refreshed, and the designs should reflect that.

With a smaller space to work with, I chose simple things with high impact:

  • Accent pattern wall in every room
  • Pop of color through the use of velvet navy furniture
  • Marble/silver tables throughout the office
  • Large posters with motivational quotes specific to the industry
  • Clean modern wood flooring

It was a fun project to work on. The staff at St. Joseph Chiropractic were so kind and wonderful to work with. I have since gone back and used their services for myself. If you are in the St. Joseph MO area and want a better idea of what’s going on inside of your body, I highly recommend Dr. Craig Maddox and his team at St. Joseph Chiropractic.

$68 Farmhouse Dining Room Makeover

My wonderful sister in law Catrina texted me to see what I could do to her dining room using a limited budget. She was about 39 weeks pregnant, so decorating wasn’t top priority, but if we could do something small she was open to a redo!

  • Since we only spent $68 on this makeover I had to prioritize what would make the biggest impact. I decided that would be the wall when you first walk in the room!
    • I found the shutters at our local habitat for humanity, and I just painted them a creamy white.
    • Catrina already had that awesome old window laying outside, so I snatched that beauty up and gave it a fresh coat of paint!
    • The Wreath is a custom job from Ra-Ra Wreaths.
    • I fastened the “fresh” sign Catrina had picked up at the Magnolia Market (I know, lucky lil ducky!) to the wreath using floral wire.
  • The next item of biggest impact was the chairs. These were hand-me-downs from our parents. It matched my mother’s dining room, but not my sister in laws. So we gave it a fresh coat of white paint and reupholstered them with some Hobby Lobby striped duck cloth!
  • I moved the Hoosier cabinet to the opposite wall to give the room more lighting

This is a success story to the message I feel like I preach on a daily basis. You don’t have to spend a ton of money to make your house look amazing! Granted Catrina had invested in some great large pieces, that made the makeover very inexpensive. But she didn’t buy them all in one day. It’s a process!

Farmhouse Redesign

This room was a fun challenge. The client wanted a farmhouse living room, but needed a little help getting there. We had a limited budget, but that wasn’t a problem! We only spent $140 on the following before and after photos!

Now the room isn’t totally finished, but I have equipped the homeowner with a shopping list to continue the search and completion of the room on a budget.

After I finished styling the room my client walked in and said “Wow! It looks so different, but I already owned most of this!” That was the best compliment she could have given me on my work! I have said this countless times, use what you have first and then fill in the holes! You would be amazed of the transformation of the pieces you already own!

Farmhouse Bathroom Makeover

Today’s makeover has me SO SO GIDDY! This is a farmhouse styled bathroom I recently designed. The bathroom vanity was an antique dresser that we transformed into a sink! The light fixture was purchased from Home Depot.

Because the bathroom is small I kept the accessories to a minimum. Using even the window as space for “wall art.” The largest items were purchased at antique stores, this keeps the space fresh and original.

English Cottage Guest Bedroom

English Cottage is all things cozy, antiques, and warm colors! What a blast it was transforming this guest bedroom. All of the fabrics used are from Waverly one of my favorite brands for curtains!

We started with this family heirloom bedroom furniture and bedding, and the rest fell into place. You will notice we used print on print for the bedding and curtains. I purchased an extra curtain panel and had throw pillows sewn to pull the curtain print down into the bedding.

The art work pictured above was perfect for the space, but the matting was dated. Swapping out matboard is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to update artwork! The lamps were purchased at the thrift store. (Read my thoughts on that here!)

We are still on the hunt for red and cream transfer-ware plates to cascade on the wall. We have a small collection stacking up, pictures to come!

2017 Fall Color Trends

While I don’t want to say goodbye to Summer, it is that time to begin the discussion of Fall trends! The colors for this fall are…. (drum-roll please) GREEN, BLUSH PINK & NAVY!

My color loving heart could not be more excited. I love everything Joanna Gaines touches because she is amazing, but white is going out and we will begin to see color come back into our lives!

Take a look at this bedroom I styled. It perfectly encompasses all things trending this fall! (In a perfect world I would have included blush pink bed sheets, but ya know, budget cuts)

Are you inspired for Fall? Are you ready to bust out the Pumpkins yet? Comment your favorite season below!

| Easy Kitchen Wall Art |

Lately if I see a wood chopping block at the thrift store, I buy it. It may or may not becoming a problem for me. Seriously though, I have stacks on stacks of these bad boys. So this week I decided I needed to do something with them. I hope you find inspiration in my crafty-diy evening!

IMG_5508

Here are the little beauts! The one with the crazy chicken painting just got flipped around, as for the pepto bismol special, I had to give that a fresh new coat of paint!

I taped off the bottom edge of the wooden block and gave it a single coat of chalky finish black paint from Hobby Lobby. Then I gave the wood “Gather” cut out (also found at Hob-Lob) a coat of chalky finish mint paint, and hot glued it down. Presto-Chango! Easiest wall art EVER! I’m adoring them stacked up on my counter space as well. (See pictures below)

To Mix Blue and Black, Or Not?

That is the question. Mixing neutrals. Black, Blue, Cream, White, and Brown? Can you mix them? Yes you can!

As I have mentioned before I unintentionally switched from Black everything to now using Navy/Blue more often. Which leads me to mixing the two colors and let me say I LOVE IT! Black and blue are both neutrals, they can absolutely, 100% be mixed! I get asked a lot if you can mix cream and white, and again YES! You do you girl, mix those colors (or lack of color in that case)!

To showcase this color freedom, I am using my current table centerpiece for summer! But don’t be surprised if you see me update the florals and keep this same arrangement going ALL. YEAR. LONG. I like to show case how to do things the easy way, as the viral YouTube video goes “Ain’t nobody got time for that!”

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

My plan to update this seasonally is that I will incorporate acorns and magnolia garland for fall, and pine garland and berries for winter! The possibilities are endless. I am excited to incorporate the black and white checked table clothes and runners all year! While I would have first thought of this as a summer print, I really think it can work year round. What about you? Would you have thought to mix the two prints together? Are you a fan or still skeptical of the black and blue mixed? I want to hear your thoughts in the comment section below!
